County Liaison Summit

Michigan's First District comprises 36 counties, the largest district east of the Mississippi. For Democrats running in rural areas, an effective campaign requires a robust and active volunteer team of leaders embedded in the community.

As we did in 2022, Dr. Bob hopes to have a presence in every county with frequent campaign visits. Logistically, this requires help from many individuals on the ground.

The Dr. Bob Lorinser for Congress campaign is seeking at least 72 dedicated individuals (or two in each county) to act as campaign liaisons or liaison teams. These lead volunteers will be at the core of our campaign and serve as county managers or team captains.

No experience is required, but we’re seeking leaders with initiative.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Requires approximately 6 – 10 hours a month.

Meet with staff and Dr. Bob at least once a month for updates               

Report information back to your county parties

Distribute and/or store yard signs

Find community leaders for endorsements               

Assemble suggestions and lists

Pitch popular events that Dr. Bob should attend               

Help the campaign build out our travel calendar

Keep the campaign informed about happenings in your county 

Help Dr. Bob better understand the needs of your community 

Advance his name recognition and presence locally               

Coordinate meetings and tours of small businesses ahead of Dr. Bob’s visits

Provide leads for meetings with elected officials and community leaders

Pitch fundraising ideas and organization

Host events and work with hosts

Recruit, sign-up other volunteers               

Assist with the building of a field-team

Organize petition drives and canvases          

Promote fundraisers

Assist with outreach to local media

Inform the public about Dr. Bob's activities in your county

Communicate frequently with campaign staff

HOW TO GET STARTED

Register

We hope to identify all lead volunteers by April 2023. The campaign will provide resources and information for all liaisons. After a brief training and meeting with staff, you will have what you need to help Dr. Bob make the most impact in your county.

You, as a county leader, will be one of the most critical aspects of the campaign, and we need you immediately. We need ideas, insight, advice, and your help igniting the most organized, efficient, and effective grassroots team in Michigan.

These volunteer positions will help us build our paid field team in the spring of 2024, which is excellent for campaign experience, resumes, and networking. We're looking for a representative cross-section of the district - young, old, students, retirees, and working professionals. Everyone is welcome. Part of your responsibilities will include involving/recruiting others.

The first district-wide liaison meetings are Thurs. March. 30, 2023 at 6 PM EDT or Fri. March 31, 2023 at 1 PM EDT via Zoom. You are only required to attend the most convenient time. Monthly meetings will be scheduled later.
